It’s easy to request a Steam refund. To get a refund, go to help.steampowered.com and firstly log into your account. You’ll see an option for purchases. Click on the purchases tab. You’ll see a list of recent purchases, and click on ‘I would like a refund’.
You will be given two options. Next, ‘Help me fix gameplay or technical issues’ and ‘I’d like to request a refund’ click on the request a refund. You will then choose how you’d like to be refunded through the steam wallet, PayPal, direct debit etc.
You’ll have to explain why you’d like a refund; it’s best to explain why you want to be refunded in quite a bit of detail. Lastly, all you need to do is click submit. You will hear back from Steam shortly whether the refund has been accepted or denied.
Will Steam refund a game over 2 hours?
You can’t get a refund for a game with over 2 hours of playtime on Steam. If the game you want to refund has under 2 hours of playtime and was purchased in the last 14 days, you’ll be able to be refunded. The issue with this is that ‘playtime’ is still defined as the game is open. For example, if you keep a game open in its main menu for 2 hours, you won’t be able to have a refund.
It’s still possible to get a refund on a game when it’s been played for over 2 hours. However, the reason for a refund would have to be very specific. For example, a user-based technical error such as a computer fault would not be enough to support a reason to be refunded.
This can be a very strict rule; however, Steam designed the 2-hour limit to ensure users don’t abuse the refund system. Steam doesn’t want players to see the refund option as a way for players to get free games.

Can I refund a steam game after 14 days?
Steam won’t provide you with a refund for a game if you have owned it for more than two weeks. The creators of Steam, Valve feel as if this is a suitable time frame for a game to be refunded. If you have owned the game for longer than 14 days, Steam won’t refund the game.
There have been exceptions when Steam refunds games that have been owned longer than 14 days. However, it’s doubtful that this happens. The refund would need a particular reason to be accepted by Steam.
Remember that the game still needs to be played for less than 2 hours to be refunded.

You can always get a refund from Steam, as long as you’ve played it for less than two hours and owned it for less than 14 days. When you receive a refund from Steam, the refunded game will remove the game from your account. This means you have met the criteria to be refunded, and you’ve got the original payment back into your account. As long as you’ve successfully been refunded, your account won’t be able to get the game back unless you repurchase the title.

Steam refund limit
There is no known refund limit to games on Steam. If you’re looking to return a game Steam even says you can request a refund for any game for any reason.
However, if you consistently request refunds for games Steam may not always provide you with easy refunds, the refund process could become more complex. Valve, the company that owns Steam, has been known to revoke people’s ability to request refunds.
It’s not necessarily about how much money you have refunded from Steam, more about the number of games you try to refund. Steam’s policies regarding refunds are particular within the 2 weeks and 2 hours time frame.
Whether you’ve been given a game as a gift or you’ve treated yourself to a game via Steam, it’s important to remember you can return the purchase. Unless you’ve been playing for more than 2 hours.
