How to connect Sky Q Mini Box to TV

- Ensure your Sky Q Box is placed in a well-ventilated area
- Do not position your device on a carpet, or in a tight fit space (eg; a cabinet)
- It is recommended to have around 10cm of space around the Sky Q Box
- The device should not be anywhere near heated appliances, such as a radiator or direct sunlight
- No other items should be placed on top or below the box
With your Sky Q Mini Box set in the right position, you can now connect it to your TV with the HDMI and Power cable included in your Sky package;
How to connect Sky Q Mini Box:
Step 1. Insert the pink end of the HDMI cable into the ‘Pink Port’ on your box set
Step 2. Put the other end of the HDMI cable into your television
Step 3. Using the power cable, connect it to the blue port of your Sky Q Mini Box with the other end plugged into the mains
Step 4. Turn your box on at the main switch
Note, you should see a message appear on your TV screen to confirm your device is starting up.
Step 5. Click the ‘Home’ button on the Sky Q remote you received to turn your box on
How to connect Sky Q Mini Box to TV without HDMI
If your TV does not support an HDMI cable, you can connect your Sky Q Mini Box through the use of an AV cable.
Before using the ethernet to connect your Sky Q Box, you need to alter the picture resolution so the display will show on your TV through the AV cable.
To do this, the Sky Q Box will need to be connected to an alternative TV with the use of the HDMI cable;
Step 1. Click on the ‘Home’ button on the remote
Step 2. Select ‘Settings’ followed by ‘Setup’
Step 3. Under ‘Audio Visual’ choose ‘Picture Resolution’
Step 4. Change the resolution to 576p
You can now confirm the changes, and proceed with using an AV cable to your chosen TV.
How to connect Sky Q remote to the TV
With your Sky Q Mini Box connected to your TV, you can now pair your Sky Q remote;
Step 1. Press down on buttons 1 and 3 simultaneously until a red light flashes x4
Step 2. Click on ‘Continue’ and insert the make of your TV
Step 3. You will now be able to choose ‘Find it for me’
Step 4. Test if your remote has been connected by changing the volume
Step 5. If your audio does not change, click on ‘No, try another’
Step 6. Confirm the pairing by clicking on ‘Finish’
Note, if you use a Sky Sound-box or speaker device, you will need to select ‘Yes’ after step 4 and follow alternative instructions.
To ensure your remote does not get damaged, you should not store it in a warm place, eg; on top of your Sky Q Box or near any other electrical device’s air vent where heated air will be extracted.
If this is the first time you have connected your Sky Q Mini box to your TV, you may experience your connectivity to decrease. To help eradicate this altercation, you can reconnect your box with the use of a WPS (Wifi Protected Setup).
How to connect Sky Q Mini Box with WPS:
Step 1. Click on ‘Select’ on your Sky remote (Step two of four will appear on your screen)
Step 2. On your main Sky Q Box (or closest Sky device) hold down on the WPS button for three seconds or until it flashes orange

Step 3. The Wifi protected setup will now take place

Why is my Sky box not connecting to my TV?
Your Sky Q Mini Box will not connect to your TV if the Sky server is down. An outage in your designated area will prevent your Sky Mini Box from accessing the server to process requests. The server can be down due to planned maintenance, and unexpected system error, or your region has a network outage. You can check the service status of Sky to confirm if this is why your Sky Mini Box won’t connect to your TV.
If the Sky server is up and functioning without any issues, your Sky Q box may not be connecting to your TV due to the following reasons;
Reason 1. Sky Q Mini software update
Your Sky Q Mini box may be due to an update, or the latest firmware update was interrupted and did not install successfully.
You can update your device by going; to Settings > Setup > Software Download. This should be done within ten minutes.
Reason 2. Faulty HDMI cable
If the HDMI cable that connects your Sky Q Mini Box to your TV is faulty or damaged, the device will not work.
Check your cable by using it to connect a different electronic item, or change it to a different port to make sure the current one is not damaged.
Reason 3. Sky Q Mini remote not working
Your Sky Q may not be working on your TV because the remote is problematic.

Press down on buttons 7 and 9 until the remote’s light flashes X4. This will factory reset the remote control.
